The Giving List

Let’s not forget the real reason for this season. Especially in 2020 aka year of the hot dumpster fire. SO many people, families, and business have struggled to make it this year. This is a list of vetted organizations that you can feel great about donating to this holiday season (or set up a recurring gift if you can!) and all benefit mothers and children.

Every Mother Counts works worldwide to achieve quality, respectful, and equitable maternity care for all. 303,000 women die around the world as a result of complications of pregnancy and childbirth each year, almost all of which can be prevented with quality education and care.

Cradles to Crayons

In the United States, roughly 20 million children live at or below 200% of the federal poverty line, a level that ranges from deep poverty (50%) to low-income (200%). These families struggle to pay for rent and groceries and often can’t afford anything else. Basic items for their children—clothes that fit, shoes, a coat for cold weather—are simply not possible. Cradles to Crayons works to fill this critical yet overlooked need.

Similar to a program run by the Salvation Army, this effort is organized by Prison Fellowship Organization, with the goal of helping churches serve the families of incarcerated parents. In short, Angel Tree provides Christmas gifts to children of incarcerated parents "from" the parents themselves — serving a double purpose of strengthening relationships with these children and their families.

Imagine not being able to provide your baby with a clean diaper.

The National Diaper Bank Network (NDBN) provides basic necessities to women and children and work in partnership with a National Network of diaper banks, allied programs, donors, sponsors, and elected officials to end diaper need and period poverty in the United States.
