So, if you’re looking for a sleep trainer — we’re not the right fit for you, and that’s okay!
We do not sleep train, or use any crying or separation methods. That’s what makes our approach different from all the other recommendations you see online.
Our goal is to help you deeply understand your child, and be prepared to tackle any sleep issue with calmness, confidence and compassion. We support you parenting the way you want to, while respecting your baby AND yourself.
Our approach helps you get to the root cause(s) of your baby’s sleep disturbances, so you can address any underlying issues. We also promise to be honest with you if your little one’s sleep patterns are already developmentally appropriate, and we’ll give you coping strategies and reassurance if that’s the case.
We’ll also work with you to minimize whatever is no longer working for your family (like bouncing for hours at bedtime, or contact napping all day) and help you optimize the things within your control — and help you let go of what isn’t.
Additionally, we’ll help you understand biologically normal infant sleep, and optimize your baby’s sleep patterns so that your whole family can get more rest with no sleep training, because it IS possible.
While I don’t personally offer 1:1 sleep consulting services anymore, I *do* have a PERFECT team of Pediatric Sleep Consultants — and moms! — who are extremely committed to helping you navigate your baby’s sleep, and cultivate better rest for your family.
All of the Hey Sleepy Baby Sleep Consultants have been extensively vetted and chosen as trusted experts to help YOU help yourself in a way that actually feels good (and aligned with your respectful, loving parenting style), and I can’t wait for you to meet them.
Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, Certified Pediatric Sleep Specialist, Lactation Support Counselor, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant candidate
I’m an Egyptian-American living in NYC with my husband, Kevin, and two cats, Alvin and Boo Bear. I’m an auntie to a 3.5-year old and a 1-year old. They along with my sister are my 'why' and have fueled my passion for the work I do today 🥰
All of my training has given me a comprehensive understanding of your child’s development, attachment, feeding, and sleep. During consults I work with you to connect the dots and get to the root of your challenges while helping you and your family get more restful days ahead.
My goal is to help you stress less, tune into your intuition, and enjoy your baby more. Raising a baby is an emotional and overwhelming journey, I'm dedicated to supporting you along the way!
SPECIALTY: Breast & bottle feeding, starting solids, tethered oral tissues, early language, and all things baby sleep
Certified Pediatric Sleep Specialist, Certified Breastfeeding Specialist, and Registered Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator
Prior to starting my sleep practice, I studied and worked in Early Childhood Education and Child and Youth Care, where I supported families, children and youth in a variety of therapeutic settings.
I’m extremely passionate about prioritizing the whole family’s well-being and need for rest, while keeping responsive care, connection, and the parent-child relationship at the forefront of everything.
My hope is to help you avoid the endless googling, obsessing, and doubting, and instead feel confident and connected to your baby, while supporting you in navigating all the different facets and challenges of baby sleep.
SPECIALTY: Sleep!
Baby-Led Sleep Consultant, former Social Worker and Early Childhood Educator
I have a background in developmental psychology and more than a decade of experience working within early childhood.
I knew I didn’t want to sleep train my daughter, but felt stuck as the primary message around sleep was one of sleep training. But because I also knew that infant brain development and attachment science shows that a child’s best outcomes are rooted in nurturing and responsive parenting, I became a Baby-Led Sleep Consultant to help other families discover sleep without sleep training!
I believe that your baby is a unique individual who YOU are the expert on, so when we work together, we combine my training and your expertise on your child to approach sleep in a way that respects the parent-infant dynamic.
SPECIALTY: Helping you understand your baby or toddler’s development and get better sleep using your instincts
(Because Gillian is not currently a Registered Social Worker, we are unable to offer services covered under client’s insurance benefits.)
I know the feeling. After spending wayyy too long sleep deprived and anxious after having my first baby, I hired a Sleep Consultant to help.
The advice was generic, didn’t take MY baby into account at all, and made me feel like I was just another mom to receive the same tired old party line.
Now, my team of Pediatric Sleep Consultants focuses on empowering you in your values, educating you on your options, and instilling confidence in your choices — but most importantly? We focus on YOU.
You, your baby, your needs, and your sleep experience.
Whether it’s your family, friends, or strangers on the Internet, I’m positive you’ve heard all sorts of people disagree with your natural approach to sleep, saying things like:
And, let’s be real:
WHY WE’D NEVER TELL YOU ANY OF THAT?
— at 10 weeks old? Right, she should totally be expected to master sleep before my mat leave is even over.
— oh, sorry, can you explain to me how supporting them to sleep is spoiling them…?
— it’s a good thing you’re not doing that then!
— yeah, totally, our babies are the exact same, for sure I’ll just do what you did…
Bath time even though the baby hates it because it makes them sleep better? I think?
Obsessively checking the clock for the EXACT wake window according to baby's age which I googled earlier.
Diaper change, baby massage, lullabies and make sure that the room is a perfect 67 degrees
Make sure baby gets a "full feed" but they don't seem hungry!?
They are not even close to falling asleep.
Turn on white noise and get baby in their sleep sack and start rocking. *hope and pray that they fall asleep*
DON'T WORRY, ONCE WE'RE DONE...
Get ready for bed when they start to show sleepy cues and it's around 7:30pm
Do some sensory play that my baby likes (because I know their temperament!)
Snuggles and books
Get baby changed and put their pj's on
Put baby down (grab allll the tricks from the Crib Guide!)
Rock while we feed to sleep
Have a few hours to myself - bless!!!!
PARENTING IS HARD ENOUGH. THE LEAST WE CAN DO IS MAKE SLEEP EASIER.
With our consultations’ sleep support being SO focused on educating you about what’s developmentally and biologically “normal” for your child, we’re certain we can alleviate sooo much of your worry just by being there for you — and helping you understand what’s just a baby being a baby vs. something you can change.
Night feedings? Totally normal! Co-sleeping? No issues! Baby only wants to contact nap? Okay! But that doesn’t mean you *want* to deal with those things. And that’s where we come in.
