none of us actually sleep through the night.
If you’re looking to cosleep with your baby (meaning sleeping with them in the same room) then a bedside bassinet is a great option to keep them close by without taking up a ton of room! Bedside bassinets, or “cosleepers,” are great for moms who are recovering from c-sections or breastfeeding because baby is right next to you to easily tend to throughout the night without getting up. Here are some of the most recommended and some of my personal favorites that I feel great recommending after lots (and lots) of research!
Setting limits and boundaries around nursing, sleep, etc. can be really hard! I bet most of us were raised with more of an “authoritarian” style of parenting where we were expected to obey and not show much emotion or protest. If you’re trying to raise your child with more of an “authoritative” style, this means you will have high empathy and warmth and take your child’s thoughts and feelings into consideration while ALSO having high expectations of them and setting appropriate limits.

There are some things that stand out to me as a sleep specialist which I call “red flags.” These red flags might be signs that there is something underlying (often medical but not always serious!) that is causing your little one to wake more than what I would consider to be “normal” for their age. I encourage parents to look into these red flags, to trust their gut, and to get second opinions when needed.
